Affiliate disclosure
In short: Some links on this site may earn us a commission if you buy something through them. Commissions never change a score or a ranking.
What an affiliate link is#
An affiliate link takes you to a retailer's website. If you buy there, the retailer may pay us a commission. Affiliate links are one of the ways this site earns money.
How we mark them#
- Affiliate links, when present, carry the attributes
rel="sponsored nofollow"in the page code. This tells search engines that the link is paid. - A short note appears near the buttons that use them.
- We may join retailer programmes, such as Amazon's. When we are in a programme, we say so on this page.
Programmes we are in#
- RunPod (cloud GPU rental). The Cloud vs local page has one referral link to RunPod, marked as an affiliate link with a note above it. If you sign up to RunPod through it, RunPod may reward us with account credit, and you may get a bonus credit too (new accounts only, under RunPod's own referral rules). It does not change the prices we show: they come from RunPod's own public price list, each with its source and the date we read it, and we would list the same prices without the link.
Links that are not affiliate links#
Braynex Services Ltd sells refurbished laptops and a setup service. Links to our shop and our setup page lead to our own business. We earn money when you buy from us. This is not an affiliate arrangement, but it is a financial interest, and you should know about it.
What commissions do not change#
- Scores. A scorecard is built from measured results using a published formula. See how we test. No commission rate is part of that formula.
- Rankings. Laptop lists and job rankings are sorted by results, not by what we earn.
- Verdicts. A laptop gets the verdict it earns.
If a retailer or a maker ever pays us to feature something, we will say so clearly where it appears.
